You are welcome... that is what I hope this site is used for.  There is so much to know.  All of our collections will be better if we exchange some of what we know.  Is great to have collectors who specialize in specific item lines like Willis and his awesome Blood collection and Omega Supreme with his DooM specialization... they can learn so much more than general collectors like myself.
I have learned many things here already and never met a single collector who didn't have something I don't, or know something I didn't even about lines I collect like Duke Nukem 3D or D!Zone etc. :)

I played it some when it came out... a cousin of mine had it.  It is a text adventure with graphics added... For text adventure games it was par for the time.  :)

That is an old one for sure.  Sounds like a great price for such an old game.  I only collect 3D First Person Shooters though. :)
If you can get that 5-1/4" disk to work, archive the program as soon as possible!  :)

5 and quarter , hell i never even seen one of those.  one of these days i need to get a older machine to try some of these games.
hear is a few Doom sharewares i got today. i could not see any versions on them and really dont know the chronological order as to when these 2 dooms came out in relation to doom in general. The bigger box looks like GT Interactive like Iggy was talkin about.  The smaller one says BX Doom
isbn 1-56434-372-3 And something about Titanium seal.

I think I have seen that DooM before... I have mostly boxed games/add-ons but I have a few odd ones like that but maybe not that one.  I buy almost any ShovelWare DooM, Duke Nukem, Quake, Heretic, HeXen etc CD.  :)
Unless it was boxed, then I wait for the boxed version to pop up.

A platform DOS game created in 1993 by Karen Crowther (now Karen Chun) through Redwood Games and published by MVP Software.
Am pretty sure she worked for apogee for along time though maybe not when she made this game.
My guess is that it is a side scrolling game.
Bobby Prince (another name associated with ID and Apogee ) i think did the music/

This game has alot of the great early names associated with it i think and will be a collectible item imo.

I think maybe she was on a diet or pregnant or even  mind altering drugs when they came up with this one rofl/ (thats with all due respect heh)

Heres a little synopsis or the game.

Pickle Wars, by Karen Crowther and MVP Software, is a game with a tangy twist! Warlike aliens resembling giant dill pickles have invaded the peaceful human colony of Arcadia. After 500 years of peace, the people of Arcadia have put away their weapons. Their only military organization is the Coast Guard. They appear to be helpless against the alien onslaught. The only thing that frightens the pickles are vegetables! So, the only logical weapon to use against them is a SaladShooter(R). YOU are the hero, known as "Dave." As Dave, you must accomplish many tasks including finding Lord Geric's Depository of Ancient Weapons, finding the Ancient Weapons themselves, finding more SaladShooters(R) and ultimately finding the Doomsday Machine itself. This isn't just war, it's Pickle War, and only you can stop it!"

is currently my new fav game  ;D still has the seal but open

I have the Shareware of Pickle Wars that I played years ago, but It doesn't say anything about DooM in the Shareware... I didn't realize it was the same game.  :)
It is like Burger Time if I remember correctly. (wrong)

****Pickle Wars Update****
I still have the shareware on my game server so I just and played that some... it is a pretty interesting side scroller at least in the first level.  :)  Not exactly Duke Nukem, but is fun for the games of that time period.  Parallax scrolling backgrounds and all.  I must have played it a lot because my initials with date stamps are all in the high scores!  Hehehe
I read in the Documentation that the registered version is called Pickle Wars Trilogy...  I have version 1.1 (I patched it I think) and the executables time stamp is 3-11-994
I still don't know where the word DooM came from. I wonder if the name DooM was added later to promote sales based on the massive success of id Software’s DooM as DooM was out by the time Pickle Wars shareware was mainstream.
To a game collector this game must be really rare in a box.  I never saw it that I can remember.  Obscure games like that were not even boxed that much then.  Again, another game that might have been great but was over-shadowed by the great and awesome 3D Revolution.

Great buy Rog... ;)

What a corny name for a game. haha... Nice to see alittle attitude....
btw i bid 30 on that and won it for 2.25 i think.

That is one of my favorite games/stories for the PS2...  I know a lot of people didn't like it for different reasons, but I still thing that story-wise and graphically it was an awesome game.  I rate it right up there with Medal of Honor: Frontline.  :)

The code you keep posting is also wrong. I can imagine why nothing shows up.
