eBay Sellers you MIGHT want to avoid...

I just wanted to add to this... I intend to only include sellers here who sell games because they know better so to speak.  Some garage sale mom who doesn't grade a box correctly doesn't bother me generally speaking.  I just consider them a risk.  But these veteran game sellers who sell hundreds of games KNOW what are doing.  I will explain my view on each seller I list in this section and I have had exchanges with both of these sellers and they know exactly what they are doing.

==================================================

I wanted to start this thread off to make a list of sellers of you MIGHT want to avoid.
Everyone doesn't have the same experiences with every seller.  You might get along fine with as seller that I do not and that is fine of course.  Everyone should stick with what works for them.  But I wanted to start by making a list of sellers that I MAY or MAY NOT have had problems with and why I think they should be avoided.
I might make another thread of sellers I have had great service with, or know of someone who has.

The first eBay seller I want to list I have not bought anything from that I can remember.  The reason I will not buy from this seller is because they go out of their way to find boxed pictures and 99% of what they sell is listed as "Used in Paper Sleeve".  Ok, fine, they tell you up front, so if you don't read ALL the text, that is your fault, right?  Maybe so... whatever.  The part that gets me about this seller is that in MY experience and years of price tracking, they just plain charge too much.  Their Motto should be "Premium Boxed Prices for Used in a Paper Sleeve games".
This seller is...

Wharehouse31

I will add more as I remember them.
If you have no problems with this seller, that is great, but I will avoid them as I believe they intentionally deceive with their listings.

I am a Collector/Gamer who plays mostly FPS's, pre-WinXP, on PC and Consoles, but also play other types of classic games on consoles, handhelds, and Plug-n-Play systems. From Pong to GTA series.  I enjoy them all. :)
Also I collect Shovelware/compilations/official add-ons for most PC FPS's. :)

Next to warehouse31 (overpriced crap with false use of pics of boxes) you can add topladwayne. Bought twice a game with him and the first was lousy packaged (just a plastic thin bag) and the second never arrived and he sure doesn't bother with refunds. He just stopped responding to my messages all of a sudden. Also, his auctions are never with good photos of the item that's for sale, I asked him once to send me some photos of a Duke in Caribbean box he was selling. No can do Sir, but the box is in good shape he replied. I bought it and got it in a thin plastic bag and the box itself was very damaged. Jerk.

Add lionalsvinyl to the list. Incorrect description and piss-poor packaging. Basically a plastic bag and thats it. Doesn't reply to negative response.

He put up another one This is the same description and there is a good chance this is NOT sealed and NOT brandnew but opended and used.

The one in the image looks smashed actually... he replied to your negative feedback.  You might want to mention that other might not have cared if theirs were open and used... and you did... so he lied.
Sucks...

I was just thinking about how many (hundreds) of emails I have sent to Amazon and never gotten a reply... well Amazon just stopped that crap for good.  They have a "message service" now rather than direct emails.  I have mentioned this to them many times over the years, that this can be a negative experience for the buyer as long as they allow third party sellers to sell through Amazon in ANYTHING less than new/sealed condition.  I am sure there were thousands of people like myself who suggested the same... well they listened.  No more emails... they have a copy of all emails between seller and buyer.  Very cool.  :)
I got a reply once to an extensive email I sent their IT department.  They said that many emails get lost or trapped in filters etc.  That is probably true, but just like on eBay, I think it common the seller doesn't want to respond or is irresponsible.  Well this new system will stop that.  Amazon sends it to their eMail and replies come through an Amazon forward service.  :)
In my few disputes, I lose because I can't prove to Amazon that the seller was a crook and intentionally deceived... well now I can.  Since this system has been placed I have had a number of sellers who will no respond because I ask for specific information that would corner them... the main issue being Box Size... Yeah, I have FIVE copies of Duke Manhattan Project now... small box... and that is just the ones I didn't have time to fool with sending back.  I also have 3 copies of DooM Collectors Edition Small Box.  Grrr...  I have to take off from work to ship things, so it is expensive.  At least this new system has a better chance of stopping this kind of thing before it starts. :)

Yea well photos sometimes are wrong, so I asked him for the condition and he said brand new and sealed. I haven't received a message from him yet so where did you find his reply?

I might try to even out the box.

Ok, strange that those other buyers are happy. Surely you've seen my photos of the DukeZone for from brand new. Why he had to use caps in his reply is another mystery to me.

I'm just going to ignore this one.

An amazing number of people know nothing about collecting and can't imagine saving a package to something.  I always have to look for something they do that is similar to help them understand.  I have had a couple of people that absolutely can not understand why I save my games at all, much less their boxes.
(they usually are not very wise people though)

Ok guys... I have a new one from eBay.

I bought this game [ebay]170331681940[/ebay]

The description says "Like New" and "NEAR MINT IN LARGE RETAIL BOX"

Yes... it does.  The box is wrecked and he knew it.

I sent this message first.

Hello gloodvse7x7...
I received Deer Hunter 3 but the one I received is not 'Like New' nor 'Near Mint' as stated in the auction. <?>
The top flap of the box is mostly torn away, the top back of the box is missing a large area of veneer, the cellophane is torn out (though included) from the front inside, and even the little 'deer' inside has a broken neck. <?>
Did I get the wrong item?
Please let me know.
Mr.BlackCat

I got this back from the seller...

The game was near mint as posted....I do not grade boxes or consider the shape of a box when I give a condition of the game. If not satisfied you may return for a refund. return shipping cost is buyers responsibility.

- gloodvse7x7

=================================================
This is intentional deception... eBay sees it that way.  They will give me my money back, but not my return shipping.  I don't agree with this policy because the seller lied and there is no gray area.  I should not be anything out of pocket for his mistakes or lies.  Personal responsibility.

Here is his seller page.  You might want to avoid this seller.

This is a point I was trying to make in another post recently... I get this A LOT!
About one out of 10 sellers tries this crap... "The BOX is NOT the GAME young man! I will word my Auctions the way I want!"

If I think about it, I can probably remember at least 10 statements like the above...

We have to be careful... Did you SEE that auction?  Then other sellers think you are crazy for asking the condition of the box. "READ the listing, it says MINT and NEW!"  So sometimes it is like you can't win.  Then I try to explain to them how sellers some seller do like the above and state the condition of the DISK but most sellers don't want my explanation or don't even get it.

I seldom buy a game anymore that I don't have to ask at least one question on.  That is why I value good sellers.  I have some great sellers I buy from who are honest and clear with descriptions.  I will post them soon... I am thinking of a good format to rate them maybe like on three or four categories like:

Description Accuracy
Communication
Packing Quality

Stuff like that.  I want to think it out to make it as fair and accurate as possible.

xsvolume - Bought a music cd from him that never arrived (not unusual). Filed in a PayPal dispute because he just kept telling me that it's all my problem that the postal office fails and of course he doesn't bother with a refund but luckily PayPal was reasonable and fully refunded me. Having a postal system that keeps failing somewhere is one thing, just telling me to sod off is another.

I always find it amazing how far some sellers try to hide the fact that they are only selling the CD or Floppy. Yet they nearly always post the boxart or something the actuall big box and somewhere all the way down in the maze of description it says: "THIS AMAZING SEALED SLEEVE IS IN GREAT CONDITION" And they ask the same price for a version with a box.  ::)

YES! This is one of my biggest issues with sellers on eBay that eBay specifically allows.  In the eBay rules it specifically states that the picture DOES NOT matter.  You can't even start a claim based on the item being different from image.  In theory you could say "2000 Corvette" in the title and have a dozen images of a 2000 Corvette... and be selling a plastic shelf model... that is FINE with eBay.  They put the responsibility on the buyer for that.  Images mean nothing unless the listing text states clearly to refer to the images and that is what you will receive.
I do not agree with this thinking.
