Does It Exist...
« on: May 20, 2010, 03:28:33 AM »
Hey guys... I wanted to start this thread to see if anyone knows for sure if certain games exist.  I have had some eBay searches up for years that had never had one real hit.

I will start it off with this post.  I have more to add later.

D!Zone.  The D!Zone series was one of the first "series" I ever collected specifically.  I bought most of mine new.  We go way back so to speak.
I have most of them I know of with the exception of a possible simi-bootleg title from Europe (D-1000) and the alternate D!Zone 75 box...

But this one I am not sure exists at all, so I need your help to find out.  Some of you have seen this post other place before probably but here is what I know so far...

I was told that D!Zone 2 – 150, (NOT 1000) was never boxed. My cousin said it was. WizardWorks contact (of mine) said it wasn’t, as far as she knew. WizardWorks distribution (contact of hers) said it was not. Cousin said it was... cousin works for a printer and has proofs with an order # for a small (a few thousand) set of them... which I have seen with my own eyes.  Intention to produce boxed version did exist.  Fact.

More to this story... while these boxes show an order, cousin can not verify they were actually ever printed as the billing information that might verify this is long years out of accounting system. Also there is no additional sub-jobs for things like registration cards, instruction etc. Lots of factors could have happened though.  If the job was transferred to another branch of cousins Company, it would look like it does now in the computer.  If it was never printed, it could look like (in the computer system) it does now.  Maybe job was cancelled.  But a box design did exist, so there is a slight possibility a few thousand were printed distributed.  I had a couple of people tell me D!Zone 75 was never released either, but I have one and have seen several, but they are rare. There are two version of D!Zone 75 known.  Also there are two versions of D!Zone 2 – 1000 box. As for D!Zone 2 – 150, I have never seen one, and no one I have talked to or typed with has ever seen one either.
I still search for a boxed D!Zone 2 – 150 as they are one of my favorite lines of box sets. :)

So tell me... Many people say they see this box, but no one is ever completely sure, and no one ever has one.  So for many years now I search and never see anything but the non-boxed version of this.
What do you know for sure of this?

I personally only recall seeing 150 in a Jewel Case, however, I really didn't start following retail packing until about 1996 or 1997 so I'm certainly no authority on the matter.

I may stand corrected: http://3dshootmaster.com/collection/054.php claims there was a box

I remember speaking him him a couple years ago about Blood games, I will PM you his email address, perhaps he can be of more help.

Here are all the ones I have boxed in the D!Zone Series...

DooM: D!Match
DooM: D!Zone 150
DooM: D!Zone 2 - 1000 (box version with simulated single screen shot and "Sequal to No. 1 Selling D!Zone")
DooM: D!Zone 2 - 1000 (box version with real screen shots (3) on front)
DooM: D!Zone 3 (1000 Levels)
DooM: D!Zone 75  (75 Levels and a 32 level DooM Conversion 'Skull Box')
DooM: D!Zone Collectors Edition (Older box version with three small screen shots)
DooM: D!Zone Collectors Edition  (Newer box version with one larger simulated screen shot)
DooM: D!Zone Gold (3000)
DooM: D!Zone MAC Collectors Edition

Others I know of that exist, but I don't have... YET!
D-1000 (European/British release of some sort... I know someone with it)
D!Zone 75, alternate box (non-skull box)

The one I am not sure about as described above.
D!Zone 2 - 150.  I have the Jewel Case and the Jewel Case is available most any time on eBay.

Any help would is appreciated.

Shadow of the Serpent Riders, Flap Type box, US Release?

I don't have one.
At least, Iggy and Dusty have Euro Flap Type boxes.

Can anyone confirm or deny a US Flap Type?

I'm currently in possession of 3 US SotSR boxes, and all 3 are exactly the same; book/clamshell opening, same UPCs, same ISBNs, same ProductID numbers.

The flap types might well be the only EU versions...

I just thought of another one...
Does it exist?

A large boxed version of Ultimate PaintBrawl 3.

I have never seen this item big boxed.

Currently I have:

Extreme PaintBrawl  (Big Box)
Extreme PaintBrawl 2  (Big Box)
Ultimate PaintBrawl 3 (DVD Cased Version)
Extreme PaintBrawl 4 (Small  Retail Box)
Extreme PaintBrawl 4 (Large Retail Boxed)

It is a long story why #3 in the series was named Ultimate rather than Extreme.  I will type it out for anyone interested.  Is just trivia.

If anyone has Ultimate PaintBrawl 3 or knows someone who does have it in a Large Box, please let me know. :)

Hey Spikey...
Lost Episodes of DooM I have never seen boxed... I have this one, but I forget how I bought it.
3D Game Alchemy as stated, came Boxed.  Some were not boxed however, I know that for a fact as I saw un-boxed, but shrink-wrapped copies in a mall bookstore at release.
Tricks of the Doom Programming Gurus... I know it was boxed, but I don't think I have it boxed.  I saw it new in bookstores unboxed I am almost certain.

So much to know!  I love this site. :)
