DNF's first patch has been announced, not all of the changes have been mentioned but those who did are interesting;

Quote
The development team has been hard at work combing through the feedback provided here and elsewhere, with updates based on this feedback currently in the works for all three platforms.

Among the changes coming to PC are a new expanded inventory option that allows you to carry up to four weapons in the single-player campaign, Valve Anti-Cheat System (VAC) support, push-to-talk voice chat, the ability to adjust FOV plus other fixes and improvements that are still being tested.

We’ll be sharing more details about the updates, including those coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, as they’re finalized. Thanks again for your support!

This along with the news of the first DLC of the game;
Quote
New maps and modes are coming to Duke Nukem Forever in the Hail to the Icons Parody Pack! Arriving on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC this Fall, the add-on packs four new multiplayer maps (each with a new weapon) and three new multiplayer modes, and will be FREE to all First Access Club members who registered their FAC membership before Duke Nukem Forever launched in their country (subject to availability).

The Parody Pack includes:

• Three All-New Modes – Freeze Tag provides some of the most fun team gameplay in Duke Nukem Forever. Players cooperate to freeze and shatter their opponents in succession for huge point streaks and combos. See who can hold on to the babe the longest in Hot Potato and play free-for-all Duke style in Hail to the King.

Call of Duke – Duke engages in modern combat in a war-torn city. Foes don’t stand a chance against the Duke when he spams the map with the N00b T00b.
Sandbox – Players take the role of mini-Duke in a giant sandbox with two bases at either end made out of children’s toys. This map features Sticky Bombs.
Inferno – Time machine engage! Duke does combat in a hellish landscape of lava and teleporters. Who turned on the 16-bit graphics, and more importantly, where did this DFG come from?
2Forts1Bridge – Hats? Duke doesn’t need no stinking hats. Give him a minigun and he’ll beat off all comers.

Don’t want to wait to get your hands on the new content? You’re in luck! 2K will be hosting Multiplayer Dukematches at their headquarters in Novato, California on Thursday, August 4. For details on how to register for your chance to attend, visit the 2K Blog

Hail to the King, baby!

Sounds like they are putting some effort into Duke Nukem Forever.
I hope they do another Duke Nukem game for modern consoles.  :)

I guess all the titty babies that cried about First Access Club being a rip-off kind of need to STFU... after they apologize to the other fans for ruining literally 200 threads with their itty hitty hurt feewings.   (yeah, I am still quite irritated about that)  That kind of behavior is most of why I have not visited Duke4, GearBox or 2K since the release of the game.  This is the only public forum I use anymore, because there isn't ANY of that crap here.

Thank you to everyone here on the Game Collectors Market for exceeding crybaby status. :)  This sites members are great.

Sincerely,
MrBlackCat

    FOV can be modified
    Change VOIP to push-to-talk (bandwidth fix)
    VAC anti-cheat system enabled
    Support for Japanese Steam ID’s for PC release in Japan
    Auto-aim fix
    Blood effects on surfaces behind enemies when shot
    Steam.exe no longer uses an unusually high amount of CPU
    Texture quality improvements

Complainers will always complain I suppose, but now they will only be able to complain about how long it took for the patch and how it should have been done on release etc... not that it isn't fixed. :)

Seriously, that looks like some major stuff.  I hope GearBox does well with this game... and makes another one.

There's one odd detail here I think: with Borderlands patches would either be equal and simultaneously distributed for all 3 platforms or not but that doesn't seem the case with DNF now. I recall where some bugs wouldn't be patched for the PC version of Borderlands because it wouldn't be possible to do so for the Xbox version of the game (IIRC mostly thanks to Microsoft). At least as far as I could gather. Gearbox does not seem to follow that pattern now. As for future patches, the biggest change for Borderlands was brought by the last patch it got (the legendary 1.41 patch that brought global level scaling to the game) so I'm sure we'll be seeing more fixes for DNF in the future.

I have seen software contracts that dictated NO unequal features or fixes... if you couldn't provide a feature or enhancement for ALL OS's/platforms, you are not allowed to implement the feature at all.  I can imagine how serious this would be with game consoles.  They did this for no other reason but to suppress weaknesses or limitations in various systems.  Even though a given system would WANT the feature to be their own, to show how their system was "better" than the next,  most do not because the next "feature" might not work on theirs etc.  So to insure "they" each look equal, the software we worked on was always suppressed... much like people talk about feature suppression or watering down of games to insure they work on all platforms.  Greed and arrogance is the cause of this in my opinion... not what it best for the customer. (yeah, I'm a little bitter about such things. ;) )

I thought this was a real surprise...
Duke Nukem Forever/Max Payne video from 2001 NEW and it didn't even sell.  I bought one a while back, but this was a real surprise.
Actually I had been bidding on them and I bid $58 and lost it as second bidder... so I messaged Joe and asked if there was any chance of a second chance offer, through eBay message system.  He failed to reply or initiate an offer. <deleted some stuff... lets just say I don't care for him.>

So I bid on another one later and got it for $30... I guess arrogance has a price.  A few clicks for a second chance offer could have saved him a re-listing fee and almost doubled the price he got on the next one.

Duke Nukem Forever video from 2001... that didn't even get a bid.

There is a LOT of positive reaction to this DLC.  I don't plan on using forums other than this one and work related ones anymore, but I did post a bit for a couple of days over at GearBox when I found out about this DLC.
It looks great to me...  I will be buying it.

So, I've finally downloaded DNF plus the 2 DLCs, the entire 8,3Gb took a few days but I've started playing yesterday. I'm almost done with the casino parts so it's too early to make any judgements about the game although driving the RC car through the casino was pretty bad due to the controls. I encountered one glitch in which I crashed the car and stepped out only to fall through the level and got stuck immediately. I've set the resolution to 1680x1050 and medium graphical settings so the game runs like Hell on my (pretty good) PC. Loading times are very short too. Graphics are also pretty enough for me.

Edit;
Oh for, well, I'm stuck. In the Hive level I'm in the room with the three big slappable boobs in the wall. Where the heck do I go from there? I can't go back, it's too steep. I suppose I'm missing something obvious here but I can't see it.

Edit;
Got it! Up to part 2.

I would like to know how long you actually spent playing.  I say this because of the unbelievably varied play times I read and hear.
I remember seeing "par" times for DooM that appear in the game when I first got the shareware way back.  I think I could  turn on clipping and still not do them that fast!  I spend from 15 to 45 minutes per level I would say on a game like DooM or Duke Nukem 3D.
I have only played Duke Nukem Forever partially, so I have not timed any of it yet.   I still have not bought me a PS3 yet, which is what I intend to play it on.

According to Steam I spent 6.5 hours playing and I'm at Dukeburger now. I wish I spend more time looking around for ego cap rewards in Titty city because there are a whooping 14 of them to be found. When I'm done with my first playthrough I'll definitely do another run.
