Duke Nukem Forever
« on: October 08, 2010, 08:14:01 AM »
This is a general thread for DNF so we won't have to make separate threads when something new pops up.

And speaking of new information, Giantbomb had a talk with George Broussard;
http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=112245

Transcript;

Quote
-Unreleased screenshots and video of old DNF builds could be released on a "making of" DVD. George said he would like to show that stuff but doesn't know if there will be legal issues. He also said multiple book publishers have approached him wanting to write a book about DNF's development.

-He said Gearbox has been consulting him about promotional materials and to ask for advice on the game in general.

-Said he knows Shadow Warrior is a fan favorite, but that it wouldn't make sense from a business standpoint to create a sequel since the original only sold 1/10th the amount that Duke3D sold.

-He said part of the reason they kept working on the game and sold it to Gearbox was so that it was in enough of a complete state that Take Two wouldn't turn it down. He didn't want to keep the Duke license and battle Take Two in court for 5 years with nothing to show for it.

-Claimed that most of the DNF delays were caused by technology problems and not by a lot of the other reasons people think.

-When jokingly asked to give some dirt on Randy Pitchford from his time working at 3DR, he said Randy once came in freaked out that a co-worker had a copy of the satanic bible on his desk. Whoever that co-worker was now works at Gearbox, lol.

LOL @ the satanic bible incident hah.. wow, what an awesome interview. If they made SHADOW WARRIOR FOREVER (ROFL), I would DEFINITELY purchase it. I actually think it would be a good move on GBX's part, a new SW game would rule and I think it would get a really good response. Especially since a good majority of Duke3D fans are also Shadow Warrior fans :)

I think the new Apogee company would be more suited to handle incarnations of old 3D Realms / Apogee IP's. After all, that's why they're here and are licensed to do so.

I am a Collector/Gamer who plays mostly FPS's, pre-WinXP, on PC and Consoles, but also play other types of classic games on consoles, handhelds, and Plug-n-Play systems. From Pong to GTA series.  I enjoy them all. :)
Also I collect Shovelware/compilations/official add-ons for most PC FPS's. :)

Here's a confirmation on a collector's edition of DNF:

It's no surprise of course, but it's certainly good news.

I can't believe it... so many years wait for this game.

It just hasn't set in. :)
I am not going in to work today just to celebrate... ok, actually I don't go in to work, but I will still celebrate. :)
